An assessment of the clinical utility of Serum ALT in patients of Chronic Liver Disease.
Pak J Gastroenterol Jan ;16(2):46-8.

Alanine aminotransferase (ALT) is the most frequently ordered test in patients suffering with chronic liver disease. The diagnostic potential of the test is questionable. ALT levels of 33 patients divided into three groups, according to child`s modified classification, were compared. It was found that ALT levels did not differ much in the three groups and the p-value was 0.162, which was statistically not significant.
