Pak J Gastroenterol Jan ;16(2):49-53.

Bezoars are conglomerates of food or fibers in the alimentary tract of humans. In children, bezoars are associated with pica, mental retardation, and coexistent psychiatric disorders. A case of gastrointestinal trichobezoar in a nine years old girl is described. The girl presented with five months history of abdominal pain with distension. Barium contrast studies revealed intraluminal filling defects involving stomach and duodenum. An impression of trichobezoar was given. She was treated surgically with no recurrence. The characteristic appearances on imaging studies of a trichobezoar are described. The condition is discussed with emphasis on clinical presentation, diagnostic consideration and treatment options.
