The Knowledge Of Tooth Morphology And Landmarks Among Dentists.

The purpose of this survey was to gain an insight into the knowledge of practicing dentists about the anatomical morphological landmarks of teeth and their importance in dentistry. Five hundred (500) questionnaires were distributed among dentists practicing in both private and government sectors in Riyadh and Dammam (ARAMCO Clinics) including teaching institutes. A total of 176 respondents replied with a response rate of 38.8%. The gender distribution of the respondents was nearly equal, about 50.3% Male and 49.7% Female. The response from the Primary Health Care Clinics (PHCC) was the lowest being 14.0% while the response from hospitals and the private office were almost equal being 29.9% and 29.3%. The teaching institute showed about 26.8%. The responding dentist`s year of graduation range between 1969 to 2001. The graduates of Saudi universities involved in the survey was 54.1% and other foreign universities graduate were about 45.8%. Almost 66% of the respondent dentists were doing, > 61 %restorative work while only 35.1 %were doing <60% restorative work.
