Visually impaired/blind Child and role of Dental Team.

Every year the number of visually impaired or blind children is increasing due to birth defects, epidemic, and accidents. The need for dental care for this group exists, and dentists should recognize moral professional duty to provide the care. Oral care for blind children provides a real challenge to the dentists. The technique aspects of treatment do not differ greatly from those provided to the normal children. In a country like Pakistan, the blind children usually lack any exposure to dental care and dental health education. This may be attributed to the lack of awareness or dentist`s training. This article will highlight different aspects ofproviding dental care to these children and role of a dental team.
