Causes of death in interior Sindh - A medicolegal autopies study.

This study is conducted at Deptt. of Forensic Medicine, People Medical College, Nawabshah with the aim to see the causes of death in the cases subjected to medico-legal atopsy. It included 110 cases and out of which 68 (M: 42, F:26), were of homicide, 27 (M:20, F:7) were of accident, 7 (M:6, F:1) were of suicide and 8 (M) were of natural death. The study reveals that the most commonly used weapon for homicide is firearm (51.4%) and with female victims being 52.5%. The used of sharp edged weapon comes next (16.2%) with male victims being 70.8%. There is high homicidal incidence in age group 21 – 30 years of age (36.3%), and also in summer season (15%). A significant numer of cases of homicide are due to the presence of tradition of ‘Karo-kari’ in the interior of Sindh.
