A study of Using Bare Sclera V/S Conjunctival Autograft Technique in the Treatment of Pterygium.

Study Design: Prospective coharts study to campare result of surgical technique of conjunctival autograft and bare sclera surgical techniques for Pterygium. Place of Study: This study is carried out at Bolan Medical College (BMC) Ophthalmology Deptt / Helper Eye Hospital Quetta. Duration of Study: Two years March 1, 2014 to February 28, 2015. Methods: Predesigned proforma was filled for each individual. Before surgery, detailed history and complete ocular examination was done. Moreover, investigations of blood complete examination, blood glucose level was done. Patients were allocated by turnover method of selection. Surgical Techniques: (i) bare sclera (ii) conjunctival autograft. Results: It was found that there was low recurrence (26%) with conjunctival autograft as compare to bare sclera technique (46%). Conclusion: It was concluded that conjuntival autograft technique is superior in management of Pterygium as compare to bare sclera technique.
