Diagnostic Accuracy of Focused Abdominal Sonography in Trauma (FAST) in patients with blunt abdominal trauma.

Aim: To determine the diagnostic accuracy of FAST in patients with blunt abdominal trauma by taking operative findings as gold standard Study Design: cross sectional study Place and duration of study: Six months study carried out at Emergency Wing of Radiology department, Nishtar Hospital Multan Methods: This was a cross sectional study which included 155 patients with blunt abdominal trauma. All the patients had FAST followed by surgery (operative findings as gold standard). Diagnostic accuracy of FAST was detected by determining sensitivity, specificity and accuracy. Results: The sensitivity, specificity and diagnostic accuracy of FAST was 82.1%, 90.6% and 83.9%, respectively Conclusion: FAST is a reliable test and should be done in every case of blunt abdominal trauma.
