Audit of Measles at Larkana.

Objective of Study: To see why measles is still common in Larkana and its morbidity and mortality. Study Design: Descriptive. Place and duration of study: Pediatric Unit III Children Hospital Chandka Medical College, Larkana from December 2016 to June 2018. Material and Methods: All patients who presented with measles according World Health Organization (WHO) criteria were included in this study. Data regarding their age, sex, residential area, immunization status, nutritional status, complications and outcome were collected from case sheets of patients. Results: 356 patients of measles were admitted. Majority [269 (75.6%)] were between 1-5 years. Males were in majority [185 (52%)]. Malnourished patients were 255 (71.6%). Majority of patients [209 (58.6%)] were not immunized against measles. Commonest complication was pneumonia [315 (88.5%)]. 297 (83.4%) patients improved and were discharged. Conclusion: Measles is still common in our community, nutritional and immunization status of our children is poor, pneumonia is commonest complication.
