Role of hormonal stability in the blood for thyroid hormones at Shaikh Zayed Hospital Lahore.
Pak J Med Res Jan ;39(4):165-7.

The study was carried out at the National Health Research Complex, Pakistan Medical Research Council at Shaikh Zayed Hospital, Lahore. Blood/Serum samples were collected from 60 healthy volunteers with an age range of 20 to 55 years and over. All serum samples were analyzed in duplicate to determine the stability of four hormones i.e. TT3, TT4, TSH & FT4 and measured with Amerlex RIA kits (Amersham International Ltd., UK). The purpose of this study was to see the effect of time and the stability and concentration of hormones in the serum samples if they were not separated for periods upto one week. It was found that most of the hormones were stable when stored in this manner, although some changes were observed but they were statistically insignificant. The changes observed would not have any bearing on the clinical interpretation of the results.
