Frequency of musculoskeletal shoulder pain and level of disability in loaders working at railway stations of Lahore city.

Objective: To determine the frequency of musculoskeletal shoulder pain and level of disability among loaders working at railway station of Lahore. Methodology: This cross sectional survey was conducted among railway coolies, from railway stations of Lahore city, working with manual loading of baggage. Males of any age with at least 1 year experience were included in the study. The sample size was 80 and survey used convenient sampling technique and was conducted from October 2019 to December 2019. Standard questionnaire Shoulder Pain and Disability Index (SPADI) was used. Results: Mean age of participants was 41.81+-11.41 years, BMI 24.77+-2.39, working hours as 10.89+-1.99, load/ frequency as 29.34+-6.75 and average distance with load 13.04+-4.97. Shoulder disability index showed showed pain score of 65.43+-8.60, disability score of 64.75+-5.74 and total SPADI Score of 64.93+-4.64. Conclusion: We found moderate to high frequency of musculoskeletal shoulder pain and level of disability in loaders working at railway stations.
