Sonographic Differentiation of Various Types of Abortions in First Trimester of Pregnancy.

Abortion is a life threatening condition. Maternal mortality due to abortion stands among three leading causes of maternal deaths. Objective: To evaluate the sonographic differentiation of various types of abortion in first trimester of pregnancy. Methods: 93 patients of different types of abortions were selected by random sampling technique at Mazang Hospital, Lahore, by the ultrasound machine of Honda Hs 2600. Pregnant ladies in their first trimester of pregnancy with any complication were included and all non? pregnant females with the history of more than twelve weeks of pregnancy were excluded. Patients were scanned for pelvic ultrasound with full bladder with convex probe and empty bladder with TVS probe. Collected data were analyzed with the help of SPSS version 24.0. Results: 93 pregnant females were evaluated with minimum age of 19 years and maximum of 42 years. Sonographically different types of abortions were demonstrated successfully. Blighted ovum were 12 while habitual abortions were 6.1 nevi table were 8 where as threatened abortion were 9. Missed abortions were 41 and incomplete were 17. Conclusions: Missed abortion was the most occurring type of abortion and habitual abortion was the least occurring type of abortion.
