Frequency of HIV infection in patients of pulmonary Tuberculosis and various cancers at Nishtar Hospital Multan..

HIV was tested in pulmonary tuberculous and cancer patients at Nishtar Hospital Multan using ELISA assays. Among these patients: there were 70% males and 30% females, 6o% rural and 40% urban, 80% poor and 20% middle income. Other risk factors were: 37.5% had shaving from barbers, 7.8% males had multiple sexual partners, 4.7% were drug addict, 9.4% had dental procedures, 1.6% homosexual, 30% smokers, 58% with history of frequent injections, 11% with history of foreign visits, 16% had blood transfusion, none had acupuncture or tattooing. None of the patients were found positive for HIV.
