Audit of defaulter retrival at a TB Clinic.
Pak J Chest Med Jan ;9(3):26-9.

In areas where DOTS is not established, T.B patients are followed in conventional OPD basis. To avoid patients defaulting at some stage in their courses, which may lead to recurrence or drug resistance, we devised a simple plan for our OPD patients. A designated person regularly contacts defaulters either on phone or by letters. In this review, out of 97 patient 28 defaulted. 18 of them could be traceable. We were able to retrieve 9 out of those 18 patients back to the T. B clinic who subsequently completed their course. This method has its strong and weak points. This is an audit of the service and discussion on retrieval of defaulters.
