Role of Moxonidine (CYNT) in Migraine.

This study is aimed at investigating the possibility of effectiveness of moxonicdine, new centrally acting (imidazoline receptor agonist) anti-hypertensive agent in patients with migraine. Twenty seven patients of migraine between ages 1952 years were recruited on the basis of- poorly controlled headache while taking maximum tolerated dose of traditional medication. In this open study, subjects were given moxonidine while they continued the previous medication. Consumption of analgesic (Paracetamol) tablets per week was used as an indicator of the degree of control of the migraine headache. Our results showed significant reduction in the headaches related to migraine; as assessed by the consumption of analgesic tablets, over the studied period in moxonidine treated group of patient as compared to the control group.
