Disease pattern in a pediatric consultant`s practice.

Pattern of disease in a consultant pediatric chamber in Nawab Shah has been studied. It was a private consultant chamber based retrospective case analysis study. Results have shown that majority of children brought for specialist consultancy were males (69. 36%) and were mainly suffering from acute illness like Acute respiratory infections (ARI) (21.46%,), Acute Gastroentritis (AGE) (l9.9%)., Malaria (11.22%) and Acute otitis media (AOM) (11 .04%) Malnutrition was a major associated problem with 43,76% children suffering from PCM Anemia was also a significant health problem with 26.66% children being anemic Most of the children were not fully vaccinated with only 4% being partially or fully vaccinated It is concluded that most of the children brought for specialist opinion suffer from simple acute illness like ARI and GE, malnutrition. anemia and partial vaccination are major associated problems. nutritional and preventive education of mothers is of primary importance
