Pak J Pathol Jan ;11(3):111-6.

Acute flaccid paralysis (AFP) is the basic tool of material for our study. All the reported cases were investigated immediately by the Deputy DHO and stool samples for virology were sent to WHO laboratory at National Institute of Health (NIH) Islamabad. After the lab report and 60 days followup the cases were confirmed or excluded. During the past three years (1997-1999), 109 cases of AFP were reported. Out of 109 cases, 70 cases were reported by the author from AIMH Sialkot. Among these cases, 40 had confirmed polio, with majority of patients were in the age group of 7-12 months (15). 50 patients were fully vaccinated, 30 were partially and 29 were un-vaccinated at all.
