Serum Eosinophilic cationic proteins in nonatopic & atopic subjects before and after challenge with platelet activating factors (PAF).
Pak J Chest Med Jan ;7(2):5-14.

Eight atopic and seven non-atopic asymptomatic subjects participated in this study. This involved one visit to the hospital. Blood samples were taken during the visit before and at 15, 30, 60, 120 and 180 minutes after a fixed dose of 960g of PAF Inhalation. Serum was separated by centrifugation and analyzed for Eosinophilic cationic protein (ECP) levels. There was no statistically significant difference in serum ECP levels before and after PAF inhalation in both atopic and non-atopic subjects. This suggests that serum ECP level is not a good index for assessing the effect of PAF on bronchial airway.
