Patient`s delay in the treatment of pulmonary tuberculosis detected by subjective symptoms.

It is a common clinical experience that patients generally delay getting proper medical advice. This problem becomes more in number and its seriousness due to the ensuing consequences. It was the objective of this study to see the magnitude of delay in seeking treatment for pulmonary tuberculosis (PTB) by patients. For this purpose sampling and data collection was performed on hundred consecutive patients admitted to Medical A Ward of Khyber Teaching Hospital Peshawar. Of the hundred patients studied 42% had delayed seeking treatment. Of these 42% patients, 59.9% were female and 40.1 % were male. It was hence concluded that a significant number of patient`s delay taking medical advice, which could lead to serious health hazards.
