Conservative treatment of Legg Calve Perthes Disease experience at Rawalpindi General Hospital.
Pak J Med Res Jan ;39(1):6-10.

Over a six years period our experience with 17 cases of Legg Calve Perthes disease treated conservatively by using a locally designed Ortho-abduction brace is discussed. All cases were males with age ranging from 5 years to 9 years. The duration of brace treatment varied from 6 to 19 months. Two cases were lost to follow up and did not complete the orthotic treatment. In two cases the orthotic treatment was abandoned in favor of operative treatment because of non-compliance. The results were assessed on an objective and subjective scoring system. The results were found satisfactory. Conclusion: A simple brace was designed at the Department of Orthopedics Rawalpindi General Hospital, Rawalpindi. The brace suits the socioeconomic condition of our people and does not prevent the normal day to day activity of the patients during prolonged containment treatment in severe types of Legg Calve Perthes disease.
