Legal issues in clinical patient-centred research.

Nowadays evidence is sought more and more for the best treatment option for the patient. To acquire this evidence there is an increasing demand for clinical patient-centred research. This article discusses the legal issues relating to research in health care practice. There are legal issues around obtaining informed consent and confidentiality concerning patients involved in research. One should be aware of the special situations involving the patients/ volunteers before they are included in the study. It is extremely important that these legal issues are considered carefully before initiation of any research project in clinical health care practice.
