Incidence and presentation of penetrating neck injuries: A study of fifty cases at Mayo Hospital Lahore.

The purpose of this study was to find out the incidence of penetrating neck trauma, the age and sex of the patients and the clinical presentation of patients with penetrating neck injuries. This study was carried out in the Departments of General Surgery and ENT, Mayo Hospital Lahore over a period of two years (1997-1998) and 50 patients were included (45 males and 5 females) in the study. It was concluded that penetrating neck injuries are more prevalent in adult male and the most common mode of presentation were bleeding from the wound site and surgical emphysema.
