Darning repair of indirect Inguinal Hernia.
Pak J Surg Jan ;20(2):86-8.

To evaluate the darning method of hernial repair in respect of early recovery and post-operative complications, a prospective study was conducted at Peoples Medical College Hospital, Nawabshah, from June 1999 to December 2001. Only male patients with primary and recurrent inguinal hernias of Type II, IIIB and IVB according to Nyhus classification were included in the study. During the study period 80 male patients, aged between 18 to 62 years (mean age 40 years), underwent darning repair with polypropylene (Prolene). During the two-year follow up few insignificant complications were observed in the early post operative period and there was only one recurrence. Hence, it is concluded that though operator dependent, darning repair is still superior as a tension free modality.
