Biomedica Jan ;14:125-31.

The present work was carried out to study the uterine size by the use of ultrasonic technique. A sum of 500 subjects were analyzed for uterine size. The volume was calculated by using prolate ellipsoid formula. The comparative analysis showed a gradual increase in the uterine volume between married females of different age groups. Significant difference between unmarried and married females (with different parity) was apparent. There was also increase in the uterine volume with increased parity but the increase between age group of 41-55 years did not exhibit the same ratio as shown in the age group 22-40 years. But still an increase with different number of gravidity was present which was because of hormonal effect. Since no ultrasonic parameters were available of our normal females. So this study will be helpful for gynaecologists and sonologists to understand the various problems in different age groups.
