Pak Armed Forces Med J Jan ;55(1):80-3.

A 30 years old female presented with a 2 months history of severe low back pain with weakness, walking difficulty, numbness and urinary incontinence. Examination was suggestive of flaccid paralysis of lower limbs with tenderness in lower back on local examination. Clinical diagnosis of cord compression was made. MRI scan of spine showed a large multi-lobulated fluid containing mass in the adjacent para spinal musculature extending into the epidural space and causing compression of the theca. Based of these findings, the diagnosis of spinal hydatid disease with involvement of the spinal canal and adjacent para spinal soft tissues was made, and patient was managed surgically.
