J Ayub Med Coll Abottabad Jan ;11(2):35-6.

In clinical experience, laboratory evaluation of serum calcium is sometimes misleading because the value does not correlate with the sign and symptoms of the patient. In such cases correlation has to be made with serum albumin of the patient. This study was conducted on 76 patients to evaluate the worth and cost effectiveness of conducting both the analysis in every case. This study found that correction of serum calcium with serum albumin in every case would he expensive. So it should be done only in exceptional cases.
