Med Channel Jan ;11(2):64-7.

Although maintenance dialysis prevents death from uremia, patient remains an important issues. There is a high prevalence of LV dysfunction in patients on hemodialysis which is manifested fundamentally as concentric hypertrophy (LVH dilatation or systolic and diastolic dysfunction. With the objective of determining the prevalence and risk factors associated with LV dysfunction we conducted an echocardiographic study on 52 hemodialysis patients and - analyzed the effect of different biological parameters on LV dysfunction. In this study 88% of uremic patients had LV function. There is a significant relation between Anemia, Secondary Hyperparathyroidism, S.Albumin and LV dysfunction. 46% of patients had LVH while LV dilatation and LV systolic dysfunction were found in 38.4% and 27% of patients.
