Vectorial Capacity of Anopheles Stephensi in Muzaffargarh Punjab, Pakistan.
Pak J Health Jan ;36(1-2):40-2.

In the transmission season of 1993, malathion 5% WDP (2g/sqm) were sprayed in sex different localities of district Muzaffar Garh. Their regular day time early morning resting population surveys of mosquitoes showed the complete absence of Anopheles culcifacies while maximum density per positive room for A stephensi was 6830 14.21 along with slide positivity rate of 28.81% in one village Khokhar, while in Ghazi Ghat, the density was 2715 638 with minimum slide positivity (4.85%). One month later regular day time early morning resting population of A. stephensi in the village Khokhar were daily collected up to seven days. They were disected and salivary glands were thoroughly examined for the presence of sporozoites. Out of 821 disections made, complete absence of sporozoites still doubts their vectorial capacity.
