Ann Pak Inst Med Sci Jan ;1(1):15-8.

A prospective study was conducted on 100 cases of maxillary sinusitis to review various clinical aspects of this disease and its underlying aetiology. Mostly young male patients were affected. Majority of patients (66%) were in between 11-30 years. The number of cases with acute or acute on chronic maxillary sinusitis were greater during winter season. The presence of single or multiple aetiological factors is discussed. Majority of patients with acute and chronic maxillary sinusitis responded to conservative measures including AWO in 58 cases. Only eleven patients required inferior meatal antrostomy and in five patients Caldwel-Luc operation was advised with excellent results.
