Re: Imaane Malik Incident at Doctors Hospital
hi all,
really sorry for imanne malik,but
i think its not justice to blame all doctor,s society for mistake of few.
1ST of all ,PMDC should investigate the case itself and if they find the doctors have made mistake then they should take serious action.but if it would not be fault of doctors ,then society should not behave like this towards doctor.
ALL people in all profeesions ARE not the same.LACK of experience can be a factor like these kinds of situations,i know that pakistani doctors are overburdened .but they should not forget MEDICAL ETHICS,n should be vey polite n sincere to patients, bcoz it right of patients,

Re: Re: Re: Imaane Malik Incident at Doctors Hospital
This is exactly what i would recommend...You cannot clean the rot by declaring the whole lot of doctors as corrupt, butchers and non professionals.... No doubt there are many black sheep amongst us doctors but those are the exceptions...
Government should take steps to improve the standards of medical education in the country, by diverting more resources towards health care sector......
While doctors as a community need to analyse their attitudes too...and as one of my teachers used to say...
Treat every patient as if he is your father/mother and you are unlikely to make an unethical or morally objectionable decision

Re: Re: Imaane Malik Incident at Doctors Hospital
instead of condemning doctors, govt should provide all the necessary equipments and drugs at all the hospitals. THQ hospitals in Bahawalpur (Yazman, hasilpur, Khairpur tamewali , APE) donot even have life saving drugs like adrenaline, solucortef and ambubag and ETT.

Re: Imaane Malik Incident at Doctors Hospital
Poor Patients in Govt Hospitals die daily of lack of medical equipment or their malfunctions. Nobody takes notices and nobody ever raised billboards for this.

Re: Imaane Malik Incident at Doctors Hospital
Thank you for asking.... I was thinking of starting this thread my self, but could't do it ( OK i admit i am lazy)
This is a very important event which has got unprecendenetd attention in media and online forums..and as my teacher used to say --- We Pakistani try to see things in absolute balck and white, while there are matters to be analyzed in the shades of gray---
Having said that while i feel sorry for the child and her parents who are devastated by her tragic death, i am also amazed ( and disturbed ) by the media hype being created in the aftermath....
Billboards going up in Lahore, Protest groups on Facebook with thousands of supporters, and every Tom, Dick and Harry in the media and politics ( who were unable to join Medical colleges in the first place) demonizing the whole medical community is something that i condemn...
There are many aspects of this discussion and tragic event..
1.Why only deaths of Huma akram and Emanee Malik make the news...Just because they can move the right strings in media and politics
2. Why are we so hell bent of targetting doctors when, less than 5 % goes to the health sector and 70 % to the defence... We are not ready to change our priorities and still expect miracles from doctors
3. Why don't we teach medical ethics and intellectual honesty to our undergards in medical colleges...Why do so called Professors , consultants behave like starved dogs when it comes to charging patients....
4. Why can't the PMDC , PMA , PIMA and others device a check and balance system to improve the accountability of doctors
5. Why there is no check on the unprecedented growth of third rate private medical colleges ( probably all these senior professors from Army and Civil sector see them as their future placements and keep mum)
There are other questions too...I urge all colleagues of this fourm to contribute to this thread...May be ---Just May be, we might be able to make a difference

PS: Ciruclating SMS condemning the attutude of the punjab government's stance of this issue is one of the most stupid things i have seen..It won't make a difference
