Abscess is formed by the bacteria, tissue debris, dead white blood cells. The best treatment is the drainage of the abscess. Since the abscess is formed by the bacterial activity, antibiotics are prescribed to kill the bacteria involved. Drainage of abscess is necessary because these antibiotics have poor penetration power into the abscess. Once drained, antibiotics play good role in killing bacteria adherant or present adjacent to walls of the cavity containing abscess.

ive never got any satisfactory answer to the question that why one should prescribe antiobiotics in an abscess, wat is its precise role in its treatment and wat if we dont give antibiotics to the pt.
