PakMediNet Discussion Forum : Surgery : circumcision of male infant
i`m a chest physician, and i would like to know whether my son, aged 1 month,15 days, can be safely circumcised while a pediatric surgeon has expressed his concern, after diagnosing him as having shawl`s scrotum, while having fully descended both testicles and no inguinal hernia, and another peads.surgeon saying that he has`nt got shawl`s scrotum, but still he would do the circumcision only at or later than 3 months age and under general anesthesia.like all parents my concern is also to void undue interventions, and i want to have him circumcised without g.a,but if it is delayed for more time, the only safe anesthesia would be general, please guide me for doing what and whom should i see,i`m based in lahore, any peadiatric surgeon willing to consider.

Dear Dr Waqar,
It may be late but if you ar still worried about the circumcision of your baby please post me the piturs of scrotum and face of your son by mail. Shawl Synrome may have other associations. There is also possibility of a missed diagnosis. Most babies have burried penis which is easily correctable
