PakMediNet Discussion Forum : Surgery : Subclavian Artery Aneurysm
I have a 26 yr old white female patient who presented with a CVA followed by Horners syndrome. (both right sided) Closer examination revealed a right subclavian artery aneurysm. I plan to carry out a inlay brachiocephalic trunk to axillary artery bypass, via sternotomy. I have not established the aetiology of her aneurysm (negative for trauma, infection, atherosclerosis, connective tissue disease etc) Anyone had a similar patient or any ideas on aetiology Thanks for the potential replies!

dear sir
i have not seen such case in my life time here in pakistan but i have come across a case of horner syndrome which was having a mass in right side of neck which proved to a sarcoma latter on.
i think that your patient fall in the category of iatrogenic case.

most likely it is poststenotic dilitation if there is no evidence of distal emboliozation i will not operate prob. anti platelet medication may be of benifit, look for accessory rib or band
