PakMediNet Discussion Forum : About Website : what for students......?
Hi everyone,
i Joined this forum and i am so happy that we are also progressing towards better tomorrow, despite all the circumstances in our country.
I am a doc and now a days i am doing my MPH in epidemiology in oklahoma, USA. shortly i am planning to take the steps also so that i can join the residencey next year.
My advice after surfing the whole site is that, i think that this site is very useful for the professional who are already graduated and are in the field of practice , but what about those who are still in the med college. so my request to the host of this website is that to reserve a section for the students and for discussion about their plans. I know one of my junior from KEMC, who is running a discussion group on delphi forum about steps and study problems and he is really getting a nice response , this shows that our students are fully up to date with the progress in the field of medicine and many of them have access to the internet and they are eager to join at some plateform for their representation and participation.
In the end I will close this mail by these comments that i have seen that pakistani doctors are very compitetive here in usa and and they are in much better shape or clinical orientation and training. Even the faculty members here accept this fact that pakistani doctors are among one of the best in the world. These are not my words, rather i am quotting the words on my supervisor here who is an associate professor in opthalmology and he said these in conference.
At that time i was really proud to be a pakistani doctor.
thanks

This website was designed for qualified doctors and health professionals who are somehow involved in research activities. It has also the aim to promote biomedical research of Pakistan. However, it is equally good for medical students as well interested in research activities.
Also thank you for appreciating the work.
Medical students interested in medical research are always welcome on this forum. Discussion regarding education is usually done on other forums.

Thank you very much Docosama for clarifying the basic theme of this website, i appreciate the efforts to host a website for promoting reseach in the field of medicine. If anyone need any help regarding epidemiology and Biostatistics, i will be glad to offer my service, as i am already working on a research project on the epidemiology of an eye disease, EKC, and my present lab is one of the two labs in USA where research on the molecular, genetic and epidemiologic aspect of this disease, is inprogress. At the same time I am in touch with some of the best faculty members in the field of epidemiology and biostatistics, who are always eager to help us.
thanks again .

A.A.I just wanna say tht evrything in this site is at very high level.Don't u think tht there should b somethings which would also help the students which r at a much lower level of the medical studies (which have just entered the medical colleges or pharmacy profession).Thanx.

This website is designed for qualified health professionals. However medical students can also take benefit.
If you think that the content of this website is higher, then I think you need to study basic medical sciences first.

I would'nt disagree that the content of the website is for research purposes and of a high quality, but what good is the research if the ethical issues are sidelined.

I am ready to make a forum for medical students, but frankly speaking, who will look after it ?
PakMediNet is moderated by only one person.

I AM VERY GLAD TO BECOME THE MEMBER OF PAK MEDINET,I HAD DONE MY GRADUATION IN 1996FROM QUAID-E-AZAM MEDICAL COLLEGE BAHAWALPUR. NOW I WILL SUGGEST FEW THINGS ABOUT THIS SITE FIRST OF ALL IF U WANT TO MAKE THE SITE POPULAR AND FRUITFUL ,U HAVE TO MAKE IT FOR EVERYU ONE ,NOT LIMITED FOR ONLY HIGHLY QUALIFIED PERSONS BUT ALSO FOR STUDENTS,GENERAL PRACTITIONERS AND OF COURSE SPECIALISTS.THERE SHOULD BE AN OPEN FORUM,MEAN INVITE EVERY ONE AND DO LET HIM KNOW THE THINGS ONE WANT TO KNOW.WITH REGARDS...

The website is research oriented and made with the aim to promote biomedical research of Pakistan. Everybody interested in this field is welcome on the website. Our medical students are least interested in this aspect and therefore i dont think they can benefit from this website. There are other websites also which are designed for medical students.

the point is being stressed over and over again! that this website is for professionalsalright but where u find a least interested medical student.pb is theres nobody to guide.biostat. is a small part of the community medicine course in 4thyr.and its dealt wid in few lectures.and wen u ask ur professionals they always reply u wid sum answers like ..
u mind ur studies first .
there r very few hospitals who offer clinical or reaserch electives.
wid due respect this attitude will never produce gud future researchers.
sorry if anybody find any hard words.

pakis dont have guidance AT ALL .........there is no orientation of this sort for students here........ wat do v do? ........the ones which are interested have no way to go along. i like pakmedinet but in the forums i see this attitude of "hey kid bug off, do your graduation and see this place then"
i hope you u guys understand what i m trying to say :P
atleast you cld make a forum fr students really inetersted(consider it an advice or request, dats ur own choice )
