What is the similarities between the following and when would you use each?
_the t test for independent and dependent samples
-analysis of variance
-pearson product correlation
-chi square test
-spearman rho

The answer will require writing book on statistics, but briefly:
t-test: When you want to comapre one continuous and one categorical variable with only two levels.
Analysis of variance: comparing a continuous variable with a categorical variable with more than two levels.
Pearson correlation: Two continuous variables.
Chi Square: Two categorical variables.
Spearman: Two variables that are ordinal.
Median: There are several tests available for comparing medians. Median (instead of mean) is tested when a distribution cannot be assumed.
